On the afternoon of May 28th, the President of Singapore Management University, Arnoud de Meyer, led a visiting delegation to Sichuan University, where he met with SCU Vice-President Yan Shijing, as well as staff and faculty of relevant departments.
Professor Yan Shijing welcomed President Arnoud de Meyer and presented an overview of Sichuan University, introducing its academic strengths, scientific research concentrations, international partnerships, etc. Yan noted that SCU attaches great importance to
international relations and cooperation with leading universities worldwide. With regard to economics, business, and related fields of study, Yan further commented, Singapore Management University is unsurpassed. The fact that the university is located relatively close to Chengdu makes it more practicable for SCU students to attend short-term courses at SMU or participate in related practicums during their summer and winter vacations. Vice-President Yan expressed his hope that the visit of President de Meyer would offer occasion to both sides to further build on their already existing foundation of collaboration in business studies and economics.
President de Meyer expressed his appreciation for the gracious welcome at Sichuan University, stating that SCU has distinguished itself in both teaching and academic research. The first time he visited Sichuan University in 2012, SMU was just beginning its cooperation with SCU. He is confident that the two universities will further strengthen their good working relationship in student exchange programs, academic research collaboration, faculty exchanges, and related fields.
